COLLINGE & CO.FUNERAL DIRECTOR |
Mike and Nina Collinge, the owners of Collinge & Co. Funeral Directors, have between them 28 years experience in the funeral industry. They received their training whilst in the employ of one of the large groups of funeral directors.
They felt that the modus operandi of the large funeral directors left much to desire. Because of this, they opened their own funeral home, servicing the greater Gauteng region.
Everything that is done at Collinge & Co. revolves around a few core principles, namely:
We provide a service that is devoid of any morbidity. For example, our staff uniform is a grey trouser with a navy blazer and red tie. In fact, we are often mistaken for a family member, which we accept as a compliment. Our hearses are not long black vehicles, but rather maroon Chrysler Voyagers and charcoal Ssang Yong Stavics, with a very discreet logo.
We try and make a very trying time as stress-free as possible. For instance, we automatically make an appointment to arrange the funeral at the family's house. We feel that at the house, the family are in familiar surroundings, and are therefore less stressed than what they would be sitting in our offices.
We offer to do everything regarding the funeral for the family, including arranging caterers, printing of full colour bulletins, arranging musicians, white doves, bagpipers, balloons, candles, flowers etc. We pride ourselves on the fact that we are able to do most things that the family requests of us. We are of the opinion that at the time of arranging a funeral, it should not be expected of a bereaved family member to run around arranging different aspects of the funeral.
Each family is treated as if they are our own family. We are often referred to as “This is Mike. He is the funeral director who is helping us. It seems as he has become part of the family.”
