Fern Gully is a small working farm, in a rural area 18kms outside Knysna on the Rheenendal road to the historical Millwood Goldmine and the Goudveld indigenous forest. A visit to the site of the old goldmines or a walk and picnic at Jubilee Creek, is a 15 minute car drive away. Buffels Bay, popular for swimming and surfing, is the nearest beach and hiking, biking and horse trails are within close vicinity. Fern Gully is within easy access to Knysna and Sedgefield and all the scenic and recreational activities they have to offer.
The planting of nut bearing Macadamia trees is underway (2002) and hopefully the farm will boast a productive crop in the near future! Meanwhile the farm is home to a couple of retired ponies, a picturesque dam of local water fowl and Owl, Hoopoe and Coucal cabins.
