| The Robertson Farmers' Market was established in early 2005 as a platform for local producers to sell their products and interact directly with the customer.
It takes place every Friday, 9am to 1pm at the Robertson Tourist Office, and boasts 20 permanent and 10 seasonal stall holders.
Products range from free range eggs, organic vegetables and fruit in season, to home-made cheese and yoghurt, freshly baked breads and patisseries, fresh orange juice (seasonal) and many other preservative free home-grown or home-made goods from the valley.
At the beginning of 2006, a partnership was established with the Robertson Winery which made it possible for the market to attend the Gourmet Festival in May at the CTICC. The hard work and enthusiasm of the stall holders was rewarded, resulting in a silver award for authenticity, commitment and enthusiasm.
Once a month, on the last Saturday, representatives of the market take produce to the Main Ingredient, Nedbank Building, Sea Point (a specialist food store). Come early, as customers start purchasing even before all products have been displayed. “The quality and value for money is excellent” - a remark by a loyal customer.
Peruse the products/price list and you can see the gems which are part of the Robertson charm. Friday mornings see many locals sipping coffee after purchasing their goodies for the week and catching up.
It really gives meaning to being in a “small town”.
The Robertson Farmers' Market is currently held at the Robertson Tourist Office on the corner of Reitz and Voortrekker Road every Friday from 9am to 1pm and once a month at the Main Ingredient in Sea Point.
