ABOUT PENNY STEYNOR
Penny Steynor was born in Staffordshire, England, married and emigrated to Cape Town in 1970. She has three children and presently lives in Cape Town.
Penny started painting when she was very young and has always been passionately fond of drawing. She attended the Ruth Prowse Art Centre to study ceramics with decoration and studied watercolour firstly with Eric Wale, then several other artists including John Blockley in England.
She has had numerous exhibitions over the past 20 years. Penny was invited to exhibit by Norwich Life in Cape Town, and has given workshops and demonstrations to several South African Artists Societies. She has also won a number of awards for her watercolours (including Best Watercolour in 2004 for the South African Society of Artists) and recently featured in the international art magazine"Palette" published in Germany.
A number of galleries display her work and her paintings range as far away as Norway, Canada and Australia. She has served on the Council of the Artists Society, and has been an active teacher of watercolour in Cape Town for more than ten years. Although her passion is for watercolour she also paints in oil, pastel and mixed media. |
